Interested in serving with NDMV California Volunteers - AmeriCorps?

In 2020, Notre Dame Mission Volunteers partnered with California Volunteers (CV) AmeriCorps. By fostering civic engagement and equipping participants with valuable skills, AmeriCorps helps build stronger, more resilient communities while offering educational benefits to those who serve.

What is AmeriCorps?

We provide AmeriCorps members with the following:

Living Allowance: A modest living allowance is distributed biweekly over the 11 month service period.

Health Care: NDMV members are eligible to enroll in our health insurance plan.

Childcare Assistance: Members are eligible to receive child care assistance, which covers up to the state’s local market rate for child care fees.

Student Loan Forbearance: Members can place qualified student loans into forbearance during their service. The National Service Trust will pay the interest that accrues on qualified loans during the time a person is in service.

Segal Education Award: Upon successful completion of their service, members receive an education award. The Segal Education Award can be applied to qualified student loans or future education.

Development and Training: Team meetings and Sevice Site Placements include regular training on relevant topics each month. We also offer members a Mid-Year Conference in Baltimore, MD, in which members participate in workshops, engage in reflections, and hear from keynote speakers.

Ask Yourself…

Are you open to learning more about and working with new and diverse groups that share a mission of supporting and creating leaders in communities across the country?

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers develops leaders through education and compassionate service that sparks confidence to learn and agency to transform disenfranchised communities. We aspire toward a world of greater goodness in which all people thrive in a fair and just society. We aim for a world with full access to education for life where all people realize and nurture their authentic selves. We envision a world where peace and diversity are celebrated, and no person or community's material conditions inhibit their chance to live joyfully and contribute to the common good.

Are you interested in learning and strengthening new skills through personal and professional development opportunities?

Team meetings will include professional development opportunities. These opportunities will add to your transferable skills, which you can take with you into the workplace.

NDMV members participate in a national conference called MidYear in the middle of their service year. This conference features keynote speakers and workshops that provide the personal and professional growth our members need for their current positions and future goals. The weekend allows NDMV community members to connect, network, gather resources, and create meaningful memories!

Are you interested in joining a national community of over 6,000 alum and 300 current members who serve local non-profits and provide hands-on learning experiences?

We have an alum network of over 6,000 alums who continue to lead in their communities today!

Can you commit to serving as a full-time or part-time member for an 11-month period?

To complete your year of service and receive the Segal Education Award, full-time NDMV members must complete 1700 hours of service (40+ hours per week), while part-time NDMV members must complete 900 hours of service (25+ hours per week).

Are these benefits of serving with NDMV for me?

Are you open to exploring new opportunities and being a part of a team?

NDMV members are part of city teams that meet and connect twice a month. Site Managers lead the team meetings by providing personal and professional development opportunities, individualized accompaniment sessions, and service projects throughout the year. This city cohort supports you on your service journey through reflection, connection, and resource-sharing. They are often the lifelong friends you never knew you needed.
