Are You Ready to Say Yes

to a year of service with NDMV?

NDMV Develops Compassionate Leaders

NDMV is more convinced than ever of the need to raise up leaders grounded in compassion, community, and a deep commitment to justice. The 2025–2026 service year marks a new chapter for NDMV as we are moving forward with renewed purpose—rooted in the values that have guided us for 35 years: holistic education, relationship-centered service, and the inherent dignity of every person.

This year is more than an opportunity - it is an invitation. An invitation to reimagine how service can meet today’s needs. An invitation to form practitioners of leadership who seek equity, healing, and opportunity for all. An invitation to explore what becomes possible when we prioritize mission, not systems. In partnership with potential members like you, NDMV will continue to spark change through your presence, accompaniment, and action.

STEP 1

Consider if a year of service with NDMV is right for you.

NDMV members serve 30–40 hours per week at Partner Sites, supporting educational and community needs. At the heart of our approach is relationship-centered service, which includes one-on-one and small group support, mentoring youth, coaching adults working toward academic or career goals, and helping families navigate community resources. This commitment to personalized accompaniment will remain a core strength of our model. And as we accompany you throughout the service year, we will explore themes such as:

  • Transformational leadership and identity

  • Equity and social justice

  • Communication and conflict resolution

  • Trauma-informed care and healing-centered engagement

  • Financial literacy, career pathways, and professional discernment

STEP 2

Lead with purpose. Serve with heart. Grow with NDMV.

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers develops leaders through education and compassionate service, sparking confidence to learn and agency to transform communities. At the heart of our approach is relationship-centered service: one-on-one and small group support, mentoring youth, coaching adults working toward academic or career goals, and helping families navigate community resources. We believe service is most impactful when members feel supported—personally, professionally, and spiritually. That’s why the NDMV experience is built around accompaniment, learning, and growth.

STEP 3

Interview with NDMV Staff

Once our staff receives your application, someone will contact you to set up an interview.

During that time, you'll learn more about the NDMV City and Partnering Sites, where members serve.

STEP 4

Interview with a Partnering Site

NDMV staff will connect you with one of our partner non-profit organizations to be your service site for the year.

You’ll need to interview with partnering sites so you and the non-profit can see if that placement is right for you.

STEP 5

Say Yes to Service!

Once confirmed, NDMV staff will walk you through the final steps of the application process, which includes a reference and background check.

Once your applications are in, interviews are done, and background checks are cleared, you can begin your year of service with NDMV!

Your service year will begin with an NDMV orientation where you will connect with NDMV staff and other NDMV members serving across the country. On that day, you’ll join over 6,000 individuals who have served with NDMV! Thank you for saying “YES!”!

Ask Yourself…

Are you open to learning more about and working with new and diverse groups that share a mission of supporting and creating leaders in communities across the country?

Notre Dame Mission Volunteers develops leaders through education and compassionate service that sparks confidence to learn and agency to transform disenfranchised communities. We aspire toward a world of greater goodness in which all people thrive in a fair and just society. We aim for a world with full access to education for life where all people realize and nurture their authentic selves. We envision a world where peace and diversity are celebrated, and no person or community's material conditions inhibit their chance to live joyfully and contribute to the common good.

Are you interested in learning and strengthening new skills through personal and professional development opportunities?

NDMV members will not only receive hands-on professional experiences at their Partnering Site but also receive professional development and personal growth opportunities during NDMV led bi-weekly Member Meetings. These opportunities will add to your transferable skills, which you can take with you into your future.

NDMV members will also participate in two, in-person retreats throughout the service year. These retreats will feature workshops and speakers to provide the personal and professional growth our members need for their current and future positions. These NDMV Retreats allow the community to connect, network, gather resources, and create meaningful memories!

Are you interested in joining a national community of over 6,000 alum and a cohort of NDMV members who serve local nonprofits and provide hands-on learning experiences?

We have an alum network of over 6,000 alums who continue to lead in their communities today!

Can you commit to serving as an NDMV member?

NDMV members serve 30-40 hours per week from September - July each year and meet with their NDMV team either in person or via Zoom each Friday from 10AM-1PM EST. Additionally, members will attend two retreats throughout the service year.
