NDMV is a national service organization that partners with communities across the United States by placing volunteers at local schools and nonprofits for a year of service. During this year of making an impact in their community, volunteers gain hands-on professional experience at their service sites and receive accompaniment and leadership training through NDMV.
More information about a service year with NDMV:
-
NDMV volunteers are placed at local 501c3 nonprofits and schools where they will complete a year of service.
The service term kicks off with an orientation, where Volunteers will receive a comprehensive overview of the program, meet NDMV staff, and connect with their cohort. There will be virtual bi-weekly team meetings, as well as 2 virtual retreats (in the Fall and Spring), and an in-person retreat that will focus on leadership development through personal, professional and spiritual growth. Throughout the year, Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend National Service Day events and connect with over 6,000 NDMV alumni across the country.
While position descriptions vary depending on the placement site, all Volunteers serve with local partners to expand access to education, health, food security, and community resources. At the heart of our approach is relationship-centered service: one-on-one and small group support, mentoring youth, coaching adults working toward academic or career goals, and helping families navigate community resources.

Benefits for serving with NDMV:
Leadership Development
NDMV develops leaders through education and compassionate service that sparks confidence to learn and agency to transform communities. Through service and accompaniment, NDMV develops leaders who are authentic, collaborative, and community-focused—leaders who listen well, reflect deeply, and act with integrity.
Personal, professional, and spiritual development and training through NDMV bi-weekly team meetings and three retreats, as well as hands-on training at partnering sites
NDMV has a holistic view of growth: our community develops personally — gaining self-awareness, confidence, and resilience; professionally — building skills, leadership, and a sense of vocation; and spiritually — deepening purpose, values, and connection to something greater than themselves. Together, these dimensions form the foundation for lifelong learning, a greater sense of purpose, and compassionate leadership.
Individual and group accompaniment on your service journey
NDMV believes that service is rooted in mutual care and support, and we commit to practicing compassionate kinship that honors the inherent dignity of all people.
