ACTION’s mission is to create a safer, stronger community, and improve the quality of life for Mahoning and Trumbull County residents. NDMV members serve in the mobile markets, offering food security and resources to veterans and adults in the area to help combat food deserts. They also provide workshops on healthy habits, food, and nutrition.
The Paula and Anthony Rich Center for the Study and Treatment of Autism is an externally funded unit of Youngstown State University. The primary mission of The Rich Center for Autism is to improve the lives of K-12 students with autism through innovative educational programs, regardless of their ability to pay. NDMV members serve in the classrooms to support students through one-on-one and small group instruction.
Senior Support Action Group (SSAG)
Senior Support Action Group (SSAG) is a program designed to improve the health, well-being, and independence of low-income, homebound seniors and other disabled persons by providing access to food, transportation, and companionship. NDMV members serve a cohort of seniors by completing home visits and routine check-ins in order to provide accompaniment in life’s daily challenges.
United Returning Citizens (URC)
United Returning Citizens (URC) is a holistic movement preparing previously incarcerated individuals and their families for successful transition back into the community. NDMV members serve this community by providing workshops and individualized support with career readiness and behavioral and reintegration support.
In their charism, The Ursuline Sisters provide various social services and support to their community, including language classes for adult learners, academic and enrichment activities for K-12 students, and food security assistance. NDMV members serve alongside the Children’s Program Coordinator supporting the engaging youth program, overseeing a small caseload of adult clients to provide individualized support, and facilitating various workshops and classes based on member interest and community need.
Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV)
Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (CIRV) is a program designed to quickly and dramatically reduce gun violence-related homicides by offering workshops and trainings on non-violent practices. NDMV members support the programming and facilitation of workshops within the community and school setting.
The Will Respect Foundation works with men to help change their perspective on their responsibility to their community. NDMV members serve 16-22 year old youth by providing companionship and workshops on decision-making, job skills, and financial literacy.
