Myeasher Bardney took some time to answer a few questions about her service year! Here is a Q & A about her journey:

Q: Where did you serve?

A: I served with Socks in The Future, based in Baltimore, MD. As a Program Specialist teaching financial literacy to 6th-8th grade students.

Q: What year did you serve?

A: I served during the 2025–2026 service year.

Q: What was a highlight or memory from serving with NDMV that you still carry with you today?

A: One of the highlights of my service year was building relationships with the students and witnessing their growth throughout the year. Seeing their confidence increase and knowing I played a small part in their journey was incredibly rewarding.

Q: What was a challenge you overcame during your service year?

A: One challenge was learning to balance multiple responsibilities while remaining present and supportive for students and staff. Through that experience, I developed stronger time management skills, flexibility, and patience.

Q: What is a lesson you learned from your service year that you still apply today?

A: I learned that meaningful impact often happens through consistency and showing up for others. Small actions, encouragement, and being a dependable presence can make a lasting difference.

Q: What else would you like to share about your year of service? What are some other ways you were impacted by service?

A: My year of service strengthened my commitment to serving others and deepened my understanding of the challenges many students face. It also helped me grow as a leader, communicator, and advocate for young people.

Q: What do you do now?

A: As the school year has ended, I am wrapping up my Program Specialist position. However, I am looking forward to serving another year with NDMV. I will be working with Mother Seton Academy this coming school year as a Teacher’s Aide, assisting with curriculum lessons and day-to-day student activities.

I am grateful for my experience with NDMV and the relationships, lessons, and memories that continue to influence my personal and professional life.
